THE CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT (CCISD)
CCISD WHOLEHEARTEDLY PURSUES ITS PRIMARY MISSION TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUSTAINABLE IMPROVEMENT OF HEALTH. OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS, IT HAS COMPLETED OVER 100 NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND MULTINATIONAL PROJECTS IN THE FIELD OF INTERNATIONAL HEALTH.
To ensure the sustainability of these initiatives, CCISD has adopted a participatory approach and supports community groups so they can improve the conditions that affect their own health.
Throughout all stages of the projects’ lifecycle, activities are carried out in a way that shows full respect for the partner countries’ desire to take charge of their own development. For this reason, four fundamental and deeply intertwined principles are integral to all CCISD’s projects:
In close collaboration with partners and experts in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada, CCISD’s team prioritizes strategies that combine training, research, technical support and communications for development, all the while applying strong Results-based Management principles and adopting a coaching and ownership strategy.
Its comprehensive approach promotes projects that provide a tailored and effective response to the real health needs of beneficiary populations, that create enabling environments for increased gender equity and equality, and that are implemented with environmental issues in mind.
With exemplary project management practices, CCISD has a significant and lasting positive impact on the health of thousands of children, women and men.
