THE CCISD - PIERRE VIENS AWARD
The Centre for international cooperation in health and development (CCISD), a Canadian not-for-profit corporation based in Quebec City, has been developing and managing international health projects since 1987.
CCISD's mission is to help sustainably improve the health of populations. Therefore, the Organization has been working in collaboration with a number of partners, including Laval University, in an effort to improve quality, access, equity and sustainability of health services. CCISD is well aware of the many structural, demographic and financial challenges related to the provision of health care services meeting local needs. Dr. Pierre Viens has strongly influenced the Organization's history by successfully serving as General Manager, Scientific Director and Scientific Advisor, before becoming the Chair of CCISD's Board of Directors. This Award is a tribute to Dr. Viens' career and to the tremendous work he has accomplished to the benefit of the health of disadvantaged populations during his 25 years with CCISD. |
